We are a specialty coffee roaster based in Antwerp. Since 2003 we have been sourcing exceptional coffees, roasting them with care and serving them in our bars. Coffee that keeps people close.

When I was launching my coffee company in 2003 I needed a good name and concept. Caffenation — caffeine and nation — became a coffee bar for people who take coffee seriously without taking themselves seriously. More than twenty years later there is a roastery, a webshop, three bars in Antwerp and a tone of voice we still cannot shake.
How we work
Source
Direct relationships, farm visits and cupping at origin. We buy the lots we can defend on quality and price.
Roast
Almost daily, in small batches, with the roast date printed on every bag. No warehouse ageing.
Brew
In three Antwerp bars, where the same coffees get pulled for whoever walks in.
Explain
Cappuccino cost breakdowns, transparency reports and journal entries nobody asked for. We like explaining.
